Terrorist attack in Pahalgam on Tourists: 26 killed, 17 injured

A massacre happened on 22 April at Baisaran, known as “mini Switzerland in Kashmir” for its panoramic views, not more than six kilometers from Pahalgam. 26 innocent tourists were shot dead and over 17 injured when four gunmen opened fire at a closed range where tourists were enjoying their picnic, views, and pony rides. A search operation has been initiated to dig up the attackers.

According to survivors, terrorists asked for tourists’ religion before firing. Many videos extracted from the tourists’ cameras show the dead bodies lying on the ground. The agency suggested that the attack was carried out by Pakistanis with the support of local Kashmiris. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and J & K Police have sealed the attack site and started the investigation. The sketches of three attackers have been released by the Intelligence agency.

Hours later, PM Narendra Modi who was on visit to Saudi Arabia, has cut down it. Upon arrival early in the Wednesday morning, PM Modi assembled a high-level meeting with National Security Adviser, External Affairs Minister, and Foreign Secretary to review the situation. The Home minister, Amit Shah has visited the attack site and met families of victims.

A Pakistan-based terrorist group, Lashkar-e-Taiba, has taken responsibility for the attack, still the government statement is awaited.
